It definitely takes it down to bare metal. Hard to describe but the piece I did was really raw looking, clean but raw. I've never tried it on a Vetterli receive, nor would I consider experimenting...

Ok, let's do some cleaning. before taking it apart. Take a look at that brown patina; it will come off by just adding light pressure with your fingernails:

magazine follower is complete and working . Also found the serial number written in pencil in the wood below the barrel. Somebody wrote that morevthan 100 years ago...I find that amazing.
